How to calculate tiles for a room

Measure length × width. Only subtract large openings you will not tile.

Divide area by one tile’s area (same units) for a piece count.

Add waste (often 10–15%) for cuts and breakage. Diagonal layouts need more.

Buy from the same batch for color consistency and keep spares.
